As the Chair of the Department of Accounting and Finance at Democritus University of Thrace, and on behalf of the entire staff of the Department—teaching, administrative, and technical—I welcome you to our official website of our Department (af.duth.gr).

The Department of Accounting and Finance at DUTH warmly welcomes its incoming students, congratulates them on their success in selecting Accounting and Finance as their first choice of studies, and wishes them a well-rounded and productive academic experience. It encourages them to make the most of their time at university to gain solid education, knowledge, skills, and qualifications, aiming for personal development and future professional career growth. The Department of Accounting and Finance is a long-established and prominent department with a longstanding presence in Kavala. Details about the curriculum can be found at the relevant link.

The privileged position of the accountant and economist graduate in the labor market has been known for decades. The technological developments that have ringed the alarm in dozens of professions, have not affected the experienced and technically proficient graduate of our Department. As a proof, our graduates have a high employment rate in professions related to their studies subject. In the last three decades, hundreds of graduates of our Department have been recognized and excelled in the professional field in Greece and abroad. We are very proud and confident that this will be continued with our new graduates.

Our Department participates in noumerous international networks which provide the opportunity for students to travel and stay in foreign destinations. The same applies to the students of the cooperating institutions, especially during the spring semester.

The Department boasts experienced and outstanding academic staff, not only in the core fields of Accounting and Finance but also in areas such as Business Administration, Statistics, Foreign Languages, and more. It also collaborates with dedicated and accomplished scientists from the wider region, who are key contributors to its successful trajectory. Additionally, the administrative staff, centered around the Department's Secretariat, serves as a vital pillar for the continuous and tireless support of students.

A significant advantage of the Department is its modern, certified, and high-quality curriculum, designed to provide students with specialized academic knowledge and skills aligned with the latest developments in the fields of Accounting and Finance. Specifically, the curriculum includes courses addressing contemporary challenges and innovations in accounting and financial management for businesses. Furthermore, it places a strong emphasis on the practical application of academic knowledge by integrating courses that involve the use of information technology by students. These features of the curriculum explain its exceptional appeal, as reflected in its high demand.
By today, our Department operates three research laboratories and organizes an annual international scientific conference. Moreover, it publishes a scientific journal and partcipates in numerous research projects. In recent years, 3 master's degree programs have been offered which welcome more than 60 applicants each year. More information is available at the respective links.

First Steps for Freshmen in Greek -> (Οδηγός Πρωτοετών)

Dear first-year students, we congratulate you on your success and your choice to study in our Department. We promise to do our utmost to meet your expectations.

The reception and orientation for the first-year students of the Department will take place on Monday, 30/09/2024, at 11:00 AM in Room 6 (Anagnosti Kipourou) of the Department (at the cafeteria level) at the Kavala Campus facilities.

Electronic registrations are being made at the website of the Ministry of Education Υπουργείου Παιδείας
