Awards of Excellence

The State Scholarships Foundation (IKY), in implementation of the Joint Ministerial Decision No. 174955/Z1/23-12-2020 (Government Gazette No. 5716/B/24-12-2020), as amended and currently in force, awards Excellence Prizes to graduates of higher education. βραβεία αριστείας σε πτυχιούχους ανώτατης εκπαίδευσης.

More specifically, the award consists of:

a) an honorary diploma in the form of a papyrus signed by the Minister of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of IKY and

b) a one-off monetary award of one thousand euros (€1,000). The prize is awarded to the graduate with the highest grade from each Department of a Higher Education Institution (HEI), provided that he or she has not exceeded the prescribed duration of studies of the respective HEI (four-year, five-year programme, etc.) for the award of the degree, including the September resit examination period.

In the event of a tie, the prize is awarded to the graduate who participated in and obtained the highest number of admission points for entry into the Higher Education Department through the entrance examinations. In this case, the relevant departments of the Higher Education Institutions carry out the selection and forward the name of the beneficiary to the State Scholarships Foundation (IKY) for the awarding of the Excellence Prize.

The details of the beneficiaries and the necessary supporting documents will be sent exclusively by the Secretariats of the Departments of each Institution, following a document addressed by IKY, which will specify the details of the implementation of the program.
