A student status is acquired by those who enroll in the course after admission, transfer or classification in accordance with the written provisions.
Student registration in the Department of Accounting & Finance takes place at predetermined time intervals that are announced by the Ministry of Education and the DUTH and are made public on the Department's website.
A student registered at the University of Thessaloniki cannot be simultaneously registered at another Tertiary Institution in Greece.
Student are obliged to renew their registration every semester. Renewal is also done online.
A student who does not renew his/her registration for two consecutive or three non-consecutive semesters loses the opportunity to continue his/her studies at the DUTH and is automatically deleted from the Department's Registers. Applications for re-registration of deleted students are examined in order by the Department Council only for serious reasons.
Final year students who owe their thesis and internship do not need to renew their registration.
By renewing their registration, students also notify the Secretariat of the cources they wish to attend based on the Department's course timetable.
With this declaration, students draw up their individual program which can include courses from all semesters, beyond the standard one, as long as the following conditions are met:
a) the declared cources do not require the successful completion of other courses from previous semesters (chain courses) and b) the total number of declared courses should not exceed 34 hours. It is clarified that students of 8ου εξαμήνου και πάνω μπορούν να δηλώνουν μέχρι και 45 ώρες και επιπλέον γι’ αυτούς δεν ισχύουν οι αλυσίδες μαθημάτων και επομένως μπορούν να δηλώνουν οποιοδήποτε μάθημα, ακόμη και αν κάποια από αυτά προαπαιτούν την επιτυχή παρακολούθηση κάποιων άλλων.

Optional courses are declared separately and independently from the electronic course registration, by submitting a written declaration to the Department Secretariat’s mailbox. The period for declaring optional courses is the week following the electronic course registration period. For the Department of Accounting and Finance, optional courses include all courses taught in other departments of Democritus University of Thrace. It is emphasized that the grades of optional courses are not taken into account in the calculation of the degree grade.
Undergraduate Thesis
Last semester students have to complete their thesis. The thesis topics are announced by the Department Secretariat at the beginning of each semester
Students register and undertake an undergraduate thesis subject after previously completing a special form available for this purpose from the Department's secretariat or found on the Department's website.
The thesis statement is valid for one semester. After the end of this semester -and since the thesis has not been delivered to the Department Secretariat- the student is obliged to request the renewal of the validity of the thesis for one more semester. THeses which are not completed after this extension are considered as not given.
A thesis topic can be jointly assigned to a group of up to two students with simultaneous assignment of the work.
After the completion of the thesis and its approval by the supervising professor, the thesis is submitted to the Secretariat (through the protocol office) and then a date is set for the evaluation of the thesis during which the thesis is presented by the student on a three-member committee of professors, in which teachers relevant to the subject under consideration participate. In any case, one of them is the supervising professor of the thesis.
The members of the committee decide by majority on the grade to be given to the examinee, and the relevant grade form is submitted to the Secretariat
The thesis grade is taken into consideration during the calculation of the final degree and corresponds to 20 ECTS.
In the Accounting & Finance department, theses are presented on the last ten days of the following month following their submission. The thesis presentation is open to all students who wish to attend.
