The Equal Access Unit of Democritus University of Thrace (EAU-DUTH) supports students with disabilities and/or other special educational needs by providing targeted services aimed at improving accessibility to the educational process, strengthening skills for personal development, offering individualized academic support, and promoting equal participation in all activities and initiatives of both the University and the wider community.

Vision & Objectives of EAU-DUTH
The vision of EAU-DUTH is to create an inclusive academic environment.

EAU-DUTH aims to:

  • Ensure equal access to academic studies for students with different abilities and needs.
  • Promote equal and unrestricted participation in university life and in all activities taking place throughout their studies.

Services Provided by Qualified Staff

  • Psychosocial Guidance: Counselling and support provided by specialized psychologists and social workers.
  • Transportation Service: Free transportation for students with mobility impairments and other relevant difficulties from their homes to the University.
  • Digital Accessibility: Technical support and software that convert educational material into accessible formats, such as DAISY and EPUB.
  • Support in the Educational Process: Measures and practices designed to facilitate the participation of all students, regardless of disability or learning difficulties.
  • Accessible Textbooks / Assistive Technologies: Provision of electronic books, screen-reading systems, magnification tools, and text-to-speech software.
  • Education and Training: Training seminars for students on equal-access practices, as well as awareness-raising events.

EAU-DUTH is addressed to all undergraduate and postgraduate students of DUTH with disabilities and/or Special Educational Needs, and all of its services are provided free of charge.
