The establishment of student groups at Democritus University of Thrace is an important aspect of student life, enriching the educational experience and contributing to the well-rounded development of students. Through these groups, students have the opportunity to engage in activities beyond their immediate academic interests, including artistic, cultural, environmental, and technological initiatives, thereby providing opportunities for self-expression, creativity, and personal development.
At the same time, participation in student groups promotes interdepartmental and interdisciplinary collaboration, creating opportunities for dialogue and the joint development of activities among students from different Departments and Schools. Furthermore, through cooperation with social, cultural, and scientific organisations, student groups strengthen the links between the University community and wider society and encourage students’ active participation in public and civic life.
DUTH encourages and supports the operation of its student groups by providing, where possible, financial resources, facilities, and equipment for the implementation of their activities. Applications for funding are submitted at the beginning of each academic year, by 15 October, and concern financial support for the following year.
