Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:

-Recall the main classifications of costs.
-Analyze a mixed cost by identifying and calculating its fixed and variable components.
-Understand the difference between variable costing and absorption costing, calculate unit production cost, and prepare the income statement under either method.
-Calculate the contribution margin in order to determine the break-even point, sales volume, net profit, and selling price.
-Calculate the cost of joint products arising from a common production process.
-Calculate standard costs and analyze variances relating to raw materials, direct labour, and manufacturing overhead.
-Understand the usefulness and role of budgets.
-Prepare budgets and analyze the resulting variances.
