The aim of the course is to provide an overview of the main types of securities traded in global capital markets, with particular emphasis on a detailed analysis of equity and bond instruments. Students are introduced to the concept of investment risk and the methods used to measure it.
The course also examines widely used trading strategies and related transactions that may be employed by mutual funds, institutional investors, and individual investors. The importance of benchmark indices and robust performance-measurement techniques for evaluating the performance of investment managers is also presented.
At the same time, students develop a comprehensive understanding of contemporary issues related to raising capital through the modern financial instruments currently available.
