International Economic Relations

This course contributes to providing students with the theoretical background required for a more comprehensive understanding of international economic relations and international political economy. It is based on the study of both traditional and contemporary theories of international trade, selected issues in macroeconomic policy, and international finance. The course seeks to enable students to understand the causes of global economic changes arising from the interaction of different national policies, as well as from differences between countries.

The aim of the course is to familiarize students with key and important issues in International Economic Relations, particularly those concerning the interconnection between the economic and political dimensions of international economic affairs. Emphasis is placed on understanding, analysing, and critically evaluating issues related to global economic relations, acquiring relevant subject-specific knowledge, and strengthening students’ analytical thinking.

At the level of skills, students should be able to:

-Study specific issues in International Economic Relations and propose appropriate solutions.
-Demonstrate an adequate ability to understand and investigate the complex realities of the international economy.
-Develop analytical and synthetic skills, as well as critical thinking.
-Develop individual responsibility and formulate well-founded academic opinions.

-Develop a collaborative academic mindset and work effectively as part of a team within the context of academic and scientific work.
